German & French e-invoicing · Hybrid PDF
ZUGFeRD / Factur-X Viewer – the data inside the PDF
ZUGFeRD (Germany) and Factur-X (France) are hybrid e-invoices: a normal-looking PDF with machine-readable XML embedded inside. Drop the PDF here – the embedded XML is extracted, shown as a readable invoice and checked against EN 16931.
The invoice never leaves your browser. No uploads, no server.
What is a hybrid invoice?
A ZUGFeRD/Factur-X file is a PDF/A-3 document that carries the invoice twice: once as the visible page you can print, and once as embedded structured XML (CII syntax) for accounting software. The two formats are technically identical – ZUGFeRD is the German name, Factur-X the French one.
Why check the embedded XML?
Accounting systems book the XML, not the visible PDF page. If the two disagree – or the XML violates the EN 16931 rules – the invoice may be rejected. This tool shows exactly what the machine sees, including the detected profile (MINIMUM, BASIC, EN 16931, EXTENDED).
Private by design
- The PDF is opened locally in your browser – no upload, no storage.
- Free, no sign-up.
- Plain XRechnung XML files work too.
FAQ
My PDF looks normal – how do I know it is a ZUGFeRD invoice?
Drop it in the viewer: if there is embedded invoice XML, it will be extracted and displayed. If not, you will get a clear message that no e-invoice data was found.
Are ZUGFeRD and Factur-X the same thing?
Technically yes – the same specification maintained jointly by German and French bodies. Only the branding differs.
