XRechnung Viewer – read German XML invoices
XRechnung is Germany’s structured e-invoice format: pure XML, unreadable without a viewer. Drop the file here and see a clean, human-readable invoice – validated against the official European rules, entirely in your browser.
The invoice never leaves your browser. No uploads, no server.
What is an XRechnung?
XRechnung is the German standard for electronic invoices, mandatory for invoices to German public authorities and increasingly common in B2B. It is an XML file (UBL or CII syntax) built on the European norm EN 16931 – machine-readable, but not meant for human eyes. If a German client or authority sent you one, this viewer turns it into a normal-looking invoice.
How to open the file
- Save the .xml attachment from the e-mail.
- Drag it into the box above (or click to choose it).
- Read the invoice: seller, buyer, line items, VAT, totals – plus an instant compliance check.
Private by design
- No upload: the file is processed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.
- No sign-up, no installation, free.
- Also reads ZUGFeRD and Factur-X (PDFs with embedded XML).
FAQ
Why can’t I open an XRechnung in a PDF reader?
Because it is not a PDF – it is a structured XML data file intended for accounting software. A viewer like this one renders the XML as a readable invoice.
Is my invoice data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs client-side in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
My German customer requires an XRechnung – what do I need?
Invoices to German public authorities must be XRechnung with a Leitweg-ID (routing ID). Most invoicing software can export the format; verify the result against the official rules with the validator on this site.
